Joseph A. Swope Jr.
Joe is a principal member of the firm. He practices consumer bankruptcy as well as several other areas of law, including estate planning, civil issues, and traffic.
Since graduating cum laude in 1994 from the St. Louis University School of Law night program, he initially represented the Standing Chapter 13 Trustee in St. Louis. Later, he went into private practice with The Bankruptcy Center in Belleville, IL then later as solo practitioner until the founding of Sherk & Swope, in 2001.
Prior to admission to the bar he also worked for the Standing Chapter 13 Bankruptcy Trustee in St. Louis while attending law school. He is licensed in both Missouri and Illinois.
Joe is an author and a regular speaker at various bankruptcy seminars and has also volunteered as an evaluator in the Mock Trial Program sponsored by the Bar Association of Metropolitan St Louis.
He is a member of the National Association of Consumer Bankruptcy Attorneys, the Debtor Attorneys of Metropolitan St. Louis, the Illinois State Bar Association, and the Missouri Bar.
